Frugal Laundry and cleaning

  • Discount Dishwashing Detergent
In your dishwasher, use baking soda in the first detergent dispenser and dish washing detergent in the other. You won't need more than a heaping tablespoon full. Your dishes, pots and pans will be spotless and there will be no need to use the liquid rinses
  • Spray Endust on your broom or mop, before sweeping, and it will pick up all the stray bits of dust and such.
  • Cut your dryer sheets in half or even in quarters. They work just as good, and your clothes feel and smell better. A whole sheet makes them too perfumey for most people.
  • Many vacume cleaner bags can be opened, emptied, and taped back together. you can get 3 or 4 uses out of a single bag. Filters can be vacumed and washed.
  • Microwave easy clean up
Add a teaspoon of baking soda to a cup of water, place in microwave, and run microwave on high for 2 to 3 minutes. Wipe up with the damp cloth!!
  • Another Microwave qick cleanup
And this one smells nice too! Dampen a paper towel with lemon juice, microwave it on high for one minute. wipe clean.
  • Pour old baking soda from the refrigerator down your drain to freshen
  • Use old newspapers for cleaning glass and windows
  • USED Dryer sheets
Lots of great uses for these guys too. Use them to dust, they pick up the dust, and hold on to it so you don't have dust flying everywhere. Put them in your garbage pails, diaper pails and where ever you need a bit of freshening.
  • Wash in Cold Water
Fact is most detergents these days work great in cold water. So save a few dollars on your hot water bill, and wash everything in cold. The only thing I was in cold are my whites.
  • Make your own general purpose household cleaner/disinfectant for use as a countertop, floor or kitchen, or bathroom cleaner. In an empty plastic spray bottle, mix these common ingredients: 2-3 oz. household ammonia, 4-5 oz. rubbing alcohol, 2-3 oz. hydrogen peroxide, 8 or more ounces of distilled or tap water to fill the bottle. These compatible ingredients make an excellent and inexpensive household cleaner and disinfectant that has many uses.
  • Buy cheap coffee filters, in various sizes. They make great covers for bowls and foods cooking in the microwave. They save on cleaning and work great by letting steam out and keeping splatters in.
